Professional/Career Advancement Training Programs
for New Jersey Education Association Educational Support Professionals

NJEA and New Jersey’s community colleges have developed a Career Ladders Program especially for NJEA ESP Members.

ESP members earn the Certificate of Competency by satisfactorily completing the four class modules of 36 class hours each plus a total of 56 hours approved in-service and online NJEA training.  

The modules include:

  • Module 1: Communication
  • Module 2: Cultural Competence
  • Module 3: Child Development
  • Module 4: Student & Staff School Safety

The Certificate of Competency is a non-credit training program that can be converted to 12 college credits when enrolling into one of three approved community college credit Certificate and/or Associate of Arts degree programs:

  • Social Services
  • Paraprofessional Management
  • Child Development/Education.
